The story delves into the life of the Sandells, made up of the priest Adam, his wife Ulrika, a lawyer; and his teenage daughter Stella, played by Björn Bengtsson, Lo Kauppi and Alexandra Karlsson Tyrefors respectively. The plot unfolds in a quiet residential suburb outside Lund, Sweden, where a seemingly perfect life is upended by the arrest of Stella, accused of murder.

The production’s narrative, divided into six episodes, explores family complexities and the secrets hidden behind the façade of an everyday routine. The adaptation was directed by Per Hanefjord, known for works such as The Fjällbacka Murders and The Cursed Son, and written by Anna Platt and Hans Jörnlind, authors of scripts such as The Truth Will Out and Top Dog.

The story focuses on how the young woman’s parents navigate through confusion and despair as they try to understand and protect their daughter, while trying not to reveal past problems. It should be noted that the events begin four years ago, when a – still a child – Stella suffered a sexual assault that was never brought to trial to prevent her from reliving the traumatic moment. Was it the best decision?
