LONDON – Global health experts believe pandemic The next big thing is already starting to happen. This could lead to the deaths of millions more people than Covid-19 .

The emergence of Disease

WHO believes that a vaccine needs to be created and administered as a rapid response to combat the disease, but as with previous pandemics, there is no guarantee this will happen.

The report adds that the impact will likely be far greater than that of Covid-19, which the world was unprepared for when the disease struck in early 2020.

“We should not be complacent just because Covid-19 is now largely considered a routine disease,” said Kate Bingham, who chaired the UK’s Vaccine Taskforce between May and December 2020.

“Let me put it this way: the flu pandemic of 1918-1919 killed at least 50 million people worldwide, twice the death toll of World War I. Today, we can estimate a similar number of deaths caused by either many viruses are already present,” the 57-year-old woman warned.

“Currently, there are more viruses busy replicating and mutating than all other forms of life on our planet combined. Of course not all of them pose a threat to humans – but many do,” he added as quoted from The MirrorSunday (24/9/2023).

Kate revealed that scientists currently know of 25 virus families, each containing up to thousands of individual viruses that all have the potential to develop into a pandemic.

In addition, it is estimated that there are still around one million undiscovered viruses out there that can jump from one species to another and have the ability to kill millions of humans.
