A national mental health project in cooperation with the World Health Organization

On Sunday, the Health Emergency Department of the Ministry of Health in the Government of National Unity, in coordination with the World Health Organization, organized a workshop to discuss a national mental health project, with the participation of mental health specialists from various Libyan cities and regions.

The Ministry’s media office quoted the head of the World Health Organization mission in Libya, Ahmed Zuwaiten, as saying that the national mental health strategy will contribute to developing solutions to the urgent challenges existing in the field of mental health in Libya, by focusing on strengthening prevention, early detection, treatment, and careful follow-up of mental illnesses, and establishing a system Comprehensive and integrated health care that ensures that all citizens have access to high-quality mental health and psychosocial support services.

The National Mental Health Project includes a set of important initiatives, such as establishing a national mental health committee, providing a trained workforce in all specialties, and involving various sectors and stakeholders in efforts to improve mental health.

Part of the workshop was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Hospital Affairs, Saad al-Din Abdel-Wakil, and a number of department directors at the Ministry of Health.
