A NATO exercise in the Mediterranean to detect submarines

A large naval maneuver is taking place this week in the center of the Mediterranean Sea with the participation of submarine fleets and surface ships of nine countries, with the theme of the maneuver being war against submarines and war against surface ships.

The DYNAMIC MANTA exercise is designed to practice the countries’ navies in operational cooperation in naval warfare, with the submarines playing the roles of attacking and being attacked, and all this in cooperation with air and ground forces.

UK DEFENSE JOURNAL reports that submarines from Greece, Turkey and the US and surface ships from Canada, Greece, Italy, Spain and the US are participating in the maneuver, including a NATO naval force.

Patrol aircraft of several policies will also participate. Italy is the host of the maneuver and all vessels and pilots will use several sea and air ports in Italy.

An identical naval maneuver will soon be held, but in the cold waters of Greenland, Iceland and northern England, the DYNAMIC MONGOOSE maneuver in the northern waters.
