The heatwave over the country may continue for the next 72 hours, the Meteorological Department said. During this time, discomfort may increase due to the excess of water vapor. In this situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a heat alert for the next 72 hours from today.

Earlier, a heat wave warning or heat alert was issued in the country for 3 days on Friday (April 19). However, even though heat alert has been issued across the country, the weather forecast has informed that there may be rain in some places.

According to the Directorate of Meteorology, in the next 24 hours there may be temporary gusty winds or rain with thunder in two places of Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chittagong divisions. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

According to the notification, very intense heat waves are flowing over Pabna and Chuadanga districts. Intense heatwave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Tangail, Jessore and Kushtia districts. Also mild to moderate heatwave is moving over the rest of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions including Srimangal and Chandpur and Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barisal divisions and may persist.
