The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Rolando Castro, announced today the departure of a new group of Salvadoran workers to Canada, as part of the successful Labor Migration Program led by the Government of President Nayib Bukele.
This initiative continues to transform the lives of hundreds of workers and promote regular, safe and orderly migration.
“The Labor Migration Program represents a significant transformation in the lives of many people and their families. We are focused on exploring opportunities worldwide, with the goal of equipping our compatriots with the necessary tools to travel without having to cross deserts or endanger their lives,” said Minister Rolando Castro.
This new group will travel on temporary visas of up to two years to the provinces of Quebec and Ontario, where they will perform various tasks, including agricultural work and cleaning.
The departments represented in this contingent include:
Sonsonate, Chalatenango, Cuscatlán, Cabañas, La Libertad, San Salvador and San Vicente. The Labor Migration Program makes it easier for Salvadorans to work abroad legally, benefiting from fair working conditions and qualified labor.
“We have established relations with Canada, a country that offers excellent working conditions and where Salvadoran workers are valued. We will continue to make efforts to open more doors in other countries, so that those who wish to migrate do not have to risk their lives,” stressed Minister Castro.
The Government’s commitment is reflected in concrete actions that improve the quality of life of workers and their families, providing them with decent and dignified jobs. This, in turn, promotes sustainable economic development in their homes.
