A new crisis between Egypt and Israel!

by times news cr

The Israeli website “Kikar” reported that “due to the tensions between Cairo and Tel Aviv and the faltering negotiations between Tel Aviv and Hamas to reach a truce and stop the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, they in Cairo are postponing the appointment of a new Israeli ambassador.”

The Hebrew website explained, “The negotiations currently taking place in Cairo between Israel and Hamas have created political tensions between Egypt and Israel, mainly due to the controversy over control of the “Philadelphi Corridor,” and have led to the failure to appoint a new Israeli ambassador to Egypt so far.”

The website added that “the main reason for the tension in relations is Tel Aviv’s insistence on keeping Israeli army forces along the “Philadelphi Corridor”, and as a result, Israel did not have an ambassador in Egypt.”

i24NEWS reported that “Cairo has been postponing the arrival of the new Israeli ambassador for the past two weeks, and that this delay is deliberate on the part of the Egyptian government.”

The former Israeli ambassador, Amira Oron, ended her work and returned to Israel about two weeks ago, while the new ambassador, Uri Rothman, has not yet obtained Egypt’s approval for his appointment.

The “Philadelphi Corridor” located on the border between Egypt and Gaza is a stumbling block in any proposed agreement to stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported that “Israel will change its strategy and will demand that the United States exert greater pressure on Egypt, which rejects any Israeli presence on the “Philadelphi Corridor.”
