The group will welcome CMA CGM to its capital. Thanks to this recapitalization of 2.25 billion euros, it will be able to repay part of the state aid.

Air France-KLM had promised to launch a capital increase before the general meeting of shareholders on May 24. The operation was announced just hours before the annual high mass. This is the company’s second fundraising since the outbreak of the pandemic crisis.

The first, in April 2021, was 1 billion euros. The second will provide 2.256 billion euros and bring the Marseilles shipowner CMA CGM into the capital, which has committed for a maximum amount of 400 million euros. The maritime carrier, which in a few years has become a giant in logistics and freight, will be the third largest shareholder, behind the French State (28.6%) and the Dutch State (9.3%) which also subscribe to the operation to maintain the same level. Paris therefore retains the pre-eminence in the capital that it had acquired during the previous operation in 2021.
