The port city of Alexandroupolis has been chosen to host the country’s new floating liquefied natural gas terminal.

On the map, the port city of Alexandroupolis has all the advantages to consolidate its position as a strategic crossroads. Located in the northeast of the country, very close to Bulgaria, this city in Thrace, praised by Herodotus and Homer, was chosen to host the country’s new floating liquefied natural gas terminal. Anchored about 18 kilometers offshore from Alexandroupolis, it will transport the gas to the coast via a 28 kilometer long pipeline. It will be able to regasify 58.5 million m per day of liquefied natural gas (LNG) imported by ship from December 2023.
