It has been reported that the Cabinet has authorized the Department of Immigration and Emigration to carry out visa issuance and related activities to investors and other parties in the port city of Colombo.
Accordingly, it has been informed that the visa procedure will be followed for investors visiting Colombo port city for various services such as international business, warehouse operations, finance, information technology and tourism.
New practice
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Public Security to take necessary steps to introduce the following visa categories based on the recommendations of the Colombo Port City Commission.
The details of the new visa types are as follows
‘Investor visa’ category for investors under the residency visa category
- ‘Service Provider Visa’ category for service providers
- A ‘SEBC Resident Property Tenant’ visa category has been introduced for foreigners living on tenancy basis in the port city of Colombo.
