A new star in the action RPG sky?

by time news

Starting today, ⁣action RPG fans can finally get early access to “Path of exiles 2” themselves. We⁣ already had a chance to take a long look at Wraeclast and tell you in our preview how⁤ we liked it.

Fans have waited for a long ‌time, it⁢ has finally⁣ begun: the early access phase “Path of Exile ⁣2”! Studio developer Grinding Gear⁣ Games wants to really shake up the action RPG genre‌ with good⁢ titles “Diablo 4” compete. To give players a first taste, the makers have put together a great package! We were ⁣able to tackle the dark fantasy adventure before the official start and had a lot of experience.

The ⁢story of “Path of Exiles‌ 2” takes you‍ to the ⁤continent of Wraeclast. It is a dark place with ancient civilizations, terrible monsters and dark secrets. As if that wasn’t bad enough,a dark force that had⁤ already been ‍almost⁤ forgotten rises⁤ in the shadows. Starting⁤ from the outermost borders of the⁣ contry, the darkness continues to spread, plunging people into chaos.

The story of the action-role-playing game is ‌divided ‍into six acts,of which we are already able to play ⁣the first three. The finished game should offer 100 different environments as well as 600‍ dangerous monsters‍ and 100 remarkable bosses. So if you want to unlock ⁢all of Wraeclast’s secrets and push your character’s strengths to the limit, you have countless⁤ hours of play ahead of you.

during our time with the early access version ‍of “PoE2,” we already really liked the game’s story. In combination with the detailed game world and its secrets, it always ⁢encouraged us to continue playing.⁣ However, compared‌ to “Diablo 4”, the production falls significantly. Sadly, ‍you have to do mostly without cuts that ⁢are presented‌ stylishly, which we find a ⁣lot of shame.

Warrior, ranger or another path?

However, the gameplay is much more ⁢vital and ‌here the ⁤”Path of Exile 2” early access was able to convince us. there will be twelve character classes⁣ to choose from, six of which were available to us during the preview phase. Specifically, we were allowed to choose between these classes:

  • mercenary: Fights with‍ a crossbow that fires different types of ammunition; Focus on‌ mobility and combos
  • monk: An agile melee ⁤fighter that ⁤relies on speed‍ and momentum
  • ranger: A fast and deadly archer who can retreat quickly
  • nurse: With her magic, she harnesses the ‌power of the elements to push her enemies forward
  • Heroes: A dangerous melee fighter who uses powerful physical attacks
  • witch: Undead monsters ask to fight for her while she casts her ‍magic

At the beginning of ‌our “PoE2” adventure we chose the ‍Ranger class.

For each character class, you can choose between two paths during the game, which open up different new possibilities for you. In the case of our Ranger, we could choose between The pathfinder and The deadeye. The former specializes⁢ in using poison to kill her enemies, while the latter can move particularly quickly through the area and never misses her target.

During Path of Exile 2 Early‌ Access, we had a lot‍ of fun developing our character and ⁣adapting it to our preferred play style. This is thanks, among other‍ things, to the Skill Gem revision system, which ⁤gives us numerous options to improve our character.

Along with the extensive‍ options, especially for those players ⁢who want to delve deeply into these mechanics,it ‌can seem intimidating to‌ ARPG newcomers. The variety of options is intimidating at first.

Powerful effect glasses

But the most extensive customization options are‌ only half as good if the ⁤gameplay⁤ doesn’t feel good. Fortunately, “Path of Exile 2”‍ scored us points in this regard. Our ranger’s bow shots felt incredibly powerful even with a normal bow. ⁢It⁣ was even better a bit later with the first magic abilities, which further‌ strengthened our attacks.

First we⁣ chose poison and we did well with it in the fight against zombies, werewolves and other creatures of the night.⁣ Shortly after that we switch to lightning and when he ‌jumps back and forth between some emerging enemies he looks amazing! Especially in the boss fights, “PoE2” puts on a real fireworks display on the screen that looks great.

Speaking of boss fights: ‍the early access ⁣version⁤ really turned up the heat in ⁣these sections. Although⁤ the standard opponents were usually weaker but a little exercise for us, the different⁢ bosses demanded much more from us.The level of difficulty increased⁢ significantly here and if our equipment was too weak, even‌ a⁤ small mistake could mean “game over”.

however, once we improved our equipment,‍ the fights became much easier. For‌ example,‍ we faced a boss ‌who could summon skeleton⁢ warriors and use⁢ powerful fire attacks with a combination of lightning and ice‌ missiles. It was a lot of⁢ hard work, also because the loot drops were only moderately helpful, but in the end it⁢ felt really good when our battle plan finally worked.

How exciting will the final game be?

So you can already tell that we really liked the early access ⁣version of “Path of Exile 2” and ⁤there are some things we haven’t even⁢ touched yet. Such as, the wonderfully atmospheric and diverse ‍areas. The sheer number of biomes in the first two acts alone is amazing and always fueled our urge to explore. In addition, ⁤there is ⁢an almost absurd number of enemy types that are trying to get to our ranger.

Although we have already seen and experienced a lot of the game, some things are still unclear. Such as,how exciting the story will be in the last three acts of “PoE2”. ⁤There is‍ also still uncertainty regarding the microtransactions that ⁢have ‌already been confirmed ⁢in ⁤advance. The makers promise “fair play” for various cosmetic content or skill effects.

However, only time will tell how fair this will ultimately be. It’s not yet clear how exciting the action⁣ role-playing game will ultimately end. This is likely‍ to ‍be extremely ‌extensive, but we dare not make ⁣an accurate forecast yet. However, if the endgame can maintain the high quality of the first three acts, we are confident ⁣that it will also be⁣ convincing.

We had a lot of fun⁣ during our time with the Early Access version‌ of Path of Exile ⁣2! This is mainly thanks to the‍ extremely atmospheric game world and the incredibly powerful⁣ combat system. With each level increase, each new skill‍ and each⁤ better loot ‌drop, the ⁤joy of seeing complete ‍ghosts of enemies crumble into dust in front of us increases. This feels especially satisfying with the challenging boss opponents.

While we already feel good about “Path of Exile ‌2”, there are a few question marks left unanswered.⁣ These will probably not be clarified until all title content is available. How exciting⁤ will the story be? ‌How fair ⁤are the microtransactions in the end? How exciting ⁤and‍ challenging is the final‌ game? If the ⁤previous positive impression continues in these areas, ARPG fans can look forward to ‌a new star in the genre sky.
