A new subspecies of the Omicron variant has been reported in China. The new category was one of 13000 new Kovid cases confirmed last day. Experts say the new subdivision was found in an area 70 km from Shanghai.
It bears no resemblance to the virus that causes Kovid disease in China. Moreover, the new subgroup could not find any similarities with the viruses stored in the GISAID, a global group of scientists formed to monitor mutations in the Kovid virus.
Experts say 12,000 cases confirmed in the country on Saturday were asymptomatic. Millions of people are still locked down in Shanghai, China’s largest city.
