OJSC “Azerenergy” builds in Khankendi new closed substation.
The press service of the OJSC reported this to Day.Az on Monday.
“In September 2023, when carrying out local anti-terrorism measures in accordance with the instructions of the head of state, a special team of Azerenerji OJSC began operational work and in just 4 days with the installation of new anchor supports, first of all, energy supply from the Shusha substation was ensured.” in Khankendi and surrounding areas.
However, since the service life of the 110-kilovolt lines and the Khankendi substation under separatist control expired, emergency shutdowns often occurred and long-term interruptions occurred.
That is why, starting in the spring of this year, Azerenergy launched the construction of double-circuit high-voltage transmission lines 110 kV “Khankendi-1”, “Khankendi-2” from the city of Shusha to Khankendi on the most difficult mountainous and forested terrain. Work on laying an overhead line with a total length of 11 km has already been completed and work is underway on laying an underground cable line with a length of 1.8 km.
Most importantly, the construction of a closed-type substation with a capacity of 110,35,10 kilovolts has begun in the city of Khankendi according to the modern model of the urban network. Most of the construction work has already been completed.
According to the head of the Azerenerji Public Relations Center, Teymur Abdullayev, the Khankendi substation is the first closed-type substation built in the territories liberated from occupation at a voltage class of 110 kV.
“Thus, all the equipment here, from the cable basement to switchgear for 110, 35, 10 kilovolts, including 2 transformers for 63 MVA, will be located inside the building,” he said.
The construction of a closed type substation is more profitable from the point of view of the fact that it takes up less space, long service life of the equipment, aesthetic appearance according to modern standards, safety and other factors. The new substation will accommodate all applications, from the state-of-the-art SERJİ fire protection system to cyber security.
It should be noted that a warehouse, a boiler room, a site for repairing machine mechanisms and other auxiliary buildings are also being built on the territory of the Khankendi substation.
Work at the Khankendi substation is planned to be completed in the coming months,” the press service said in a statement.
