The Russian company Illusion, with the support of the National Technical Initiative (NTI), has developed a technology for watching films and videos with aroma accompaniment. Illusion Aroma technology synthesizes and disperses scents from multiple exchangeable cartridges depending on the scene on the screen. The development team included winners and prize-winners of various technical and startup contests: WorldSkills Russia Junior, Kurchatov Tournament, and the international competition My First Business, Illusion noted.
“We offer the technology of the smell track by analogy with the sound track,” explains the project manager Ilya Finatov. – Smells are distributed in the film in the same way as sound. We plan to provide many scents by mixing, as in the color palette. We analyzed scenes from more than a hundred films and identified the most common smells that are sure to be in the library.
