A new artwork by the enigmatic street artist Banksy appeared in Rye Lane, southeast London, just hours ago. However, it was swiftly removed by two masked individuals shortly after its installation.
The artwork, depicting a howling wolf silhouetted against a satellite image of a closed building, was shared on Banksy’s Instagram account earlier in the day. According to Sky News, two people clad in blankets were spotted approaching the building with a ladder shortly after the work’s installation. They climbed up and removed the satellite.
Since the beginning of the week, Banksy has been busy creating new works across London. On Monday, a goat appeared on a pipe in Richmond, while two elephants poked their heads out of a boarded window in Chelsea on Tuesday. On Wednesday, three monkeys were spotted crawling onto a railway bridge in Shoreditch.
Internet users have been speculating about the meaning behind these recent works, with some suggesting that Banksy is using them to protest the destruction of animals or the intrusion of public surveillance.
