/ The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported, at dawn on Wednesday, that a number of civilians were killed and injured, and that material damage occurred, as a result of an “Israeli aggression” on the city of Homs and its countryside.

SANA reported: “Our air defense systems confronted the aggression’s missiles and shot down some of them.”

SANA quoted a military source as saying, “At around 30:00 this morning (Wednesday), the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the direction of northern Tripoli, targeting a number of points in the city of Homs.”

The source added that the Israeli attack led to the killing and wounding of a number of civilians, and some material losses to public and private property.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that four people, including two civilians, were killed in the Israeli airstrike.

“Four people, including two civilians, were killed in Israeli raids on the city of Homs,” Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

Last week, in response to an attack on its forces in Jordan, the United States launched four strikes against pro-Iranian factions in Syria and Iraq, killing dozens.

In January, Israeli strikes near Damascus killed eight people, including pro-Iran fighters, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Over the past years, Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, mainly targeting Iranian and Hezbollah targets, including warehouses and shipments of weapons and ammunition, as well as Syrian army sites.

But these strikes intensified after the outbreak of war in Gaza following an unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7.
