Marcin Oleksii, a one-legged Pole, was just one name on the Puskas Award for the best goal, with glamor stars like Richarlison and Dimitri Payet in front. Not many people saw that goal, which was scored in a match for disabled people who played soccer on crutches, until it was finally shortlisted. But when Oleksii’s name was announced loudly on stage in Paris on Monday night, the world really went wild.
Last November 6th, the birth of goal was one of the days that the world patiently waited for the big fights in Qatar. Oleksi scored an eye-catching goal for Varta Poznań in a limited-person football match. Even the goalie didn’t expect it when he held one of the crutches in both hands, raised one leg and performed an acrobatic bicycle kick in front of the post.
However, it was not something that was born out of nowhere. Recently, when media workers came to ask about the same, Olexi repeated the goal in front of them with the same accuracy.
Another shortlist was Richarlison’s bicycle kick goal for Brazil against Serbia at the World Cup. The goal scored by Dimitri Payet for Olympique Marseille was also in the match, but Olexie’s one-timer made everyone ineffective.
Former Real Madrid legend Ferenk Puskas has been awarded the best goal of each year since 2009.
