In Yvelines, a Chapter in Automotive History Closes This Friday
In Yvelines, a chapter in automotive history closes this Friday, March 29, at the Renault Flins plant. In the afternoon, the last car, a Zoe, will roll off the production lines at the historic site of the diamond brand.
Renault, which launched in 1952 and once employed 21,000 people in the 1970s, will have produced 19 million cars from the Flins plant. The first models produced there, such as the JuvaQuatre, Frégate, and 4 CV, bear little resemblance to the vehicles in circulation today.
The site is now destined for the shared economy, according to the wishes of Renault’s general manager, Luca de Meo. The decision he made in 2020 when he arrived, to “save Flins.”
