Three weeks after closing its doors following the discovery of dead birds from avian flu, the Géresme park in Crépy-en-Valois (Oise) reopened to the public on Sunday. No new cases have been detected, reports Actu Oise. The site was placed under surveillance in early December, when several birds were found dead or sick.
The suspicion of avian flu was quickly confirmed by analyzes carried out by the departmental directorate for the protection of populations. To stop the spread of the virus, the prefecture had ordered the closure of the park for twenty-one days. It had also established a “temporary control zone” over a radius of 20 km around the site. This area included 111 municipalities of the Oise.
After three weeks of closure and several tests carried out by the department, no new cases have been discovered in the park or among residents living nearby. In view of “this favorable evolution of the health situation”, the temporary control zone as well as all the restrictions have thus been lifted, announced the prefecture.
