The mayor of Dupnitsa, Parvan Dangov, declared a partial state of emergency due to the fire in Rila, the municipality’s press center reported.

“The circumstances that make it necessary are in connection with the growing fires in the forest territory of the village of Samoranovo and the village of Bistritsa, and smoke in part of the territory of the municipality of Dupnitsa, as well as due to the danger of the fire spreading and gassing of the populated areas”, it is written in the order. A partial state of emergency is declared until no longer necessary.

Today, it is expected that servicemen from the Bulgarian army will be involved in extinguishing the fire. So far, about 30 decares have burned, in some places the fire is at its peak. The fire is made difficult by the rugged terrain and the high altitude. It can be extinguished only by hand – with hoes and shovels, and the place of the fire can be reached after walking for an hour, said the fire department.

We activated the municipal plan in the area of fires, which includes all available equipment, and we want help from the state, said Parvan Dangov, quoted by the press center of the Municipality.

The fire broke out on Friday last week.
