“After the new payment procedure comes into force, esophagogastroduodenoscopy and/or colonoscopy examinations will be paid for separately.
For example, if a gastroenterologist provides a simple consultation in accordance with his competence (examines the patient, collects anamnesis, adjusts treatment, provides recommendations to the patient regarding medication and nutrition, etc.) and additionally performs an esophagogastroduodenoscopy examination, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund will pay for two consultations , that is, for the consultation of a gastroenterologist and the consultation of a specialist doctor when esophagogastroduodenoscopy is performed.
If a gastroenterologist provides a consultation based on his competence and simultaneously performs an ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs and a colonoscopy examination, two consultations will also be paid: an extended consultation of a gastroenterologist and a consultation of a specialist doctor when a colonoscopy is performed,” – lrytas.lt VLK explained in the provided comment.
From August 1 of this year the following are established new doctor’s consultationswhen the aforementioned studies are carried out, the base prices:

– doctor’s consultation when a colonoscopy is performed together with a biopsy and/or polypectomy and the biopsy material (and/or polyp) is examined – 160.91 EUR.
“In order to ensure the high-quality examination of samples taken for endoscopic examinations, the quality requirements for examination of these samples were tightened and the costs of high-quality examination of biopsy or surgical material were included in the prices of new services.
