State Sickness Fund (VLK) lrytas.lt indicated that it planned to allocate an additional 2.1 million by the end of this year due to the updated rate. euros.

Hospital Manager: The study was very unprofitable

“This process has probably been going on since last year, when a certain working group was formed to review the rates for these services.

Even we at the Joniškis hospital had played a video clip explaining why there are such long queues for stomach examinations.

The study was very unprofitable due to its cost, so neither the administrations of medical institutions nor the specialists themselves dared to offer many vouchers”, – on Facebook said M. Gedminas in the posted video.

“But now I want to celebrate,” said the director of the Joniškis hospital and explained that the costs of the tests were assessed fairly objectively, so hospitals will be able to perform stomach tests without incurring losses.

According to M. Gedmin, as a result, many vouchers should appear, it will be easier to register for an endoscopy examination at a public health care institution, and private clinics will have fewer reasons to ask for a premium for the service.

“We all talk about long queues and service availability. It is with such tax policy steps, when calculating the payment of services, it is possible to strongly influence the micro-management decisions of the health insurance system”, emphasized the director of the Joniškis hospital.

According to VLK data, last July, 35.68 percent had a waiting line longer than one month. endoscopists of the country.

What exactly has changed?

Commenting on the revised rates in more detail, VLK representatives indicated that from August 1. the payment for the consultation of a medical specialist (surgeon, pediatric surgeon, gastroenterologist, pediatric gastroenterologist, abdominal surgery doctor or endoscopist) is also changing when an esophagogastroduodenoscopy is performed.

The new rate is also provided for the consultation of a medical specialist (surgeon, pediatric surgeon, gastroenterologist, pediatric gastroenterologist, abdominal surgeon, coloproctologist or endoscopist) when a colonoscopy is performed.

“After the new payment procedure comes into force, esophagogastroduodenoscopy and/or colonoscopy examinations will be paid for separately.

For example, if a gastroenterologist provides a simple consultation in accordance with his competence (examines the patient, collects anamnesis, adjusts treatment, provides recommendations to the patient regarding medication and nutrition, etc.) and additionally performs an esophagogastroduodenoscopy examination, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund will pay for two consultations , that is, for the consultation of a gastroenterologist and the consultation of a specialist doctor when esophagogastroduodenoscopy is performed.

If a gastroenterologist provides a consultation based on his competence and simultaneously performs an ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs and a colonoscopy examination, two consultations will also be paid: an extended consultation of a gastroenterologist and a consultation of a specialist doctor when a colonoscopy is performed,” – lrytas.lt VLK explained in the provided comment.

From August 1 of this year the following are established new doctor’s consultationswhen the aforementioned studies are carried out, the base prices:

– doctor’s consultation when an esophagogastroduodenoscopy is performed (if necessary, a urease test is also performed to detect H. Pylori) – 65.09 EUR, or

– doctor’s consultation when esophagogastroduodenoscopy is performed together with biopsy and/or polypectomy and examination of biopsy material (and/or polyp) – 119.38 EUR;

– doctor’s consultation when a colonoscopy is performed – 85.03 EUR, or

– doctor’s consultation when a colonoscopy is performed together with a biopsy and/or polypectomy and the biopsy material (and/or polyp) is examined – 160.91 EUR.

“In order to ensure the high-quality examination of samples taken for endoscopic examinations, the quality requirements for examination of these samples were tightened and the costs of high-quality examination of biopsy or surgical material were included in the prices of new services.

We hope that the changed payment procedure and the new prices for doctor’s specialist consultations will ensure the quality of services and better access to them for patients,” VLK representatives said.
