On board the liner traveling from Bangkok there were 175 passengers (173 citizens of the Republic of Korea and 2 Thai nationals), as well as 6 crew members. The plane belonged to Jeju Air. The airport is located in Muan County, Jeollanam-do Province.

Authorities in the Republic of Korea believe that most of the people on board were killed, with the exception of two rescued people.

Jeju Air Flight 7C 2216, a Boeing 737 passenger aircraft, skidded off the runway and crashed into a fence while attempting to land at Muan Airport in South Korea.

According to preliminary information, 28 people were killed. In total, there were 181 people on board – 175 passengers and six crew members, there were no Russians among them.

“The plane crashed into the outer wall of the runway, broke in half and caught fire. Presumably, the crash of the passenger plane was caused by landing gear failure due to a bird strike,” the publication writes.

The plane was flying from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
