A 2,000-year-old Greco-Roman tunnel has been discovered under the ancient Egyptian city of Tabosiris Magna. A 4,281-foot rock-cut tunnel on Egypt’s northern coast has just been discovered by the Egyptian Dominican Archaeological Mission.

The newly discovered tunnel is 6.5 feet high, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a statement. Apart from the tunnel, the team led by Martinez has reportedly done a lot of research near the temples over the past 14 years.
Calling the tunnel ‘an engineering marvel’, Martínez explains that its architectural design is similar to the Euphilinus tunnel project in Greece. He pointed out that a certain part of the tunnel was discovered under the Mediterranean Sea.
Excavations uncovered a number of ceramic jars and pots, along with a rectangular limestone block hidden beneath mud and sand sediments. At least 23 earthquakes occurred along the Egyptian coast between 320 AD and 1303 AD. A part of the Temple of Taposiris Magna collapsed and was submerged in water, according to the report.
