The Beach Security Directorate, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in the government assigned by the House of Representatives, announced “the death of a person by drowning in the “Wanzerik” area, as a result of swimming in one of the ponds formed by the floods.”
The Director of Beach Security, Major General Salah El-Din El-Senussi, told the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa, “The deceased person was stuck while swimming in one of the pools in the mud and silt formed as a result of being swept away by the flood waters, and he died at that time.”
The Beach Security Director appealed to “all responsible parties to support those affected by these floods that hit the Mansoura area and the surrounding areas, and led to huge material losses that forced nearly 200 families to remain in the open without assistance or shelter, after their homes were damaged and some of them were demolished in the areas of (Zaqouba – Tamsan – Adry), in addition to losses in the livestock of some citizens.”
Al-Sanussi stressed, “All citizens should take precautions and stay away from floods and valleys, due to the unprecedented weather fluctuations that the south has recently been experiencing, especially at this time of the season.”
