At 5:02 a.m. firefighters went to a fire in Riga, where smoke had formed in the apartment on the third floor of a nine-story residential building. The rescuers, using the three-stage sliding ladder, entered the apartment where the couch was on fire in an area of two square meters (m2) and took the person out of the premises, who was pronounced dead by the medics.
On Monday at 2:46 p.m., firefighters received information that a fire broke out in a one-story hangar-type building on Flotes Street in Riga. Arriving at the scene, it was found that the production plant with an area of 20 m2, the finished product with an area of ten m2, the roof with an area of 30 m2 and a ventilation pipe with an area of five m2 were on fire. On the other hand, on the second day, VUGD received a call from a resident that a person in Aknīste Parish of Jēkabpils County was lost in the forest and could not find a way out on his own. The rescuers turned on the horn of the tanker at the scene and helped the man out of the forest.
In the past 24 hours, firefighters also rushed to calls where a mezzanine cover, two passenger cars, an agricultural self-propelled vehicle, three cases of dry grass, a pile of branches, oil and three cases of garbage were on fire.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 49 calls were received – 12 for firefighting, 26 for rescue work, and 11 calls were false.
