A photo booth has been installed at the Ábrahámszék salt lake, where a water retention development was recently completed in a joint investment by WWF Hungary and the Municipal Municipality of Domaszék. New side entry structures and inset panel structures were installed on the canal, allowing excess water in the canal to reach the 8-hectare lake, which has been suffering from a water shortage in recent years.
Mayor Krisztián Sziráki highlighted the success of the Ábrahámszék saline lake development. Despite the area’s historical water scarcity, the lake remained partially flooded from winter until recently, restoring the natural ecosystem.
The lake currently covers 8.6 hectares when water is present. In its dry state, the area is characterized by a barren landscape with white patches of thatch. Visitors can share photos of the flooded areas in winter or dry saline areas in summer, as well as animal sightings, using the #ábrahámszékitó hashtag on Facebook. Photos can be sent to [email protected] for further documentation.
