BOLZANO. “Together against the suffering of millions of animals”. The new awareness project started with this motto “South Tyrol fur-free” of the animal protection association Faunawhich has reached its third appointment this year.
With prominent supporters from the local scene and a clear message, the initiative sends a strong signal in favor of consciously giving up real fur and ending its production. «The aim is to educate the public about the cruel practices of the fur industry and its enormous environmental impact and to encourage them to act – says the Brissinian Giada Del Marcovice president of Fauna and author of the Südtirol Pelzfrei project” – On fur farms, fur animals live in catastrophic conditions in cramped metal cages, without any possibility of showing behavior appropriate to the species. Wild animals hunted for their skins often die in agonizing traps. The production of fur also has a significant impact on the environment, studies show that the production of real fur causes up to ten times more CO emissions than the production of a fur coat Despite these alarming data, real fur is coming back into fashion in some areas and is often labeled incorrectly or not at all. This is why education remains more important than ever.”
Hence the idea of this project with a campaign supported by personalities from journalism, politics and entertainment who take sides against fur production.
