Unpleasant action
State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe has demanded the immediate suspension of the service of a senior police officer who grabbed a woman’s neck and threatened her during the protest.
He said that yesterday (14) the police have made this request to the Chancellor.
A senior police officer who is supposed to protect people has threatened a woman police officer by neck in a very unpleasant and humiliating manner.
9,000 women
He has mentioned that he regrets and condemns this act.
He pointed out that currently around 9,000 women are serving in the police service and mothers do not send their daughters to the police service expecting such things.
