One of the biggest stars of contemporary pop music, the English singer of Albanian origin, Dua Lipa, will arrive in the Czech Republic for the first time. The winner of three Grammy awards announced on Thursday that she will hold two concerts in Prague’s O2 arena as part of her world tour. On May 27 and 28, 2025, he will present his third studio album this year called Radical Optimism.

Tickets priced from 1,790 crowns will be on sale from next Friday, September 20. “Due to restrictions on the resale of tickets by third parties, the singer’s management decided to distribute digital and physical tickets to buyers up to 48 hours before the actual performance,” reports Ondřej Pojzl from the Live Nation agency, which organizes the concerts.

The singer will celebrate her 30th birthday next year. He’s on top right now. This year she performed on the main stage of the famous British festival Glastonbury, where thousands of listeners danced to her hits Levitating or Houdini.

“I dreamed about this moment, I wrote about it in my diary and I worked so terribly hard to make it come true. If I was still a little girl, I would be completely crazy right now,” she told visitors. She also recalled one of her first concerts, where there were around ten people sitting in the audience. “They only came because we were offering free drinks,” she noted.

Dua Lipa was born in August 1995 in North West London to ethnic Kosovar Albanians who fled the war in Yugoslavia. When they decided to return home, the girl was almost 13 years old and getting used to England.

Soon after, she began recording covers of pop hits and posting them on YouTube. Because of her success with them, she persuaded her parents to let her return to London alone. She argued that if she graduated from high school in England, she would have a better chance of getting into university there.

“My parents sacrificed a lot to make us better off, and I felt like I wasn’t missing anything,” she recalled in the New York Times about her father and mother, who both worked for minimum wage in bars and restaurants in Great Britain.

In 2014, when she was 18 years old, Dua Lipa signed her first contract with the record company Warner Music, but for a while she made a living as a model or waitress in a cocktail bar. She definitely broke through in 2017 with the worldwide hit New Rules, in which she turns the painful end of a relationship into fun. To date, the video has over three billion views on YouTube alone.

Two years later, Dua Lipa already received two Grammy awards, including the prestigious statuette for discovery of the year, and soon became one of the most commercially successful contemporary British artists, such as Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Sam Smith and Adele. Today, she already has seven Brit Awards statuettes to her credit, and Time magazine included her on the list of the 100 most influential people in the world this year.

Last year, Albanian President Bajram Begaj granted the singer honorary citizenship of Albania. According to him, Dua Lipa is spreading the good name and awareness of Albania throughout the world.

“I accept with unimaginable joy. Now I will have papers to prove that I am Albanian,” thanked the pop star at the municipality in the Albanian capital, Tirana, where officials took her photo and took her fingerprints.
