The cause of this possible snowy episode: a conflict of air masses. Questioned by the site actu.fr, meteorologist Guillaume Séchet explains that “from Tuesday evening, a depression should bring up milder air and precipitation from the southwest. But as the cold air will remain quite extensive in the north and will resist, snow is to be feared from the Channel coasts to the north-east. It could even snow from Monday on the north-eastern borders of France. Météo-France thus predicts “a few snowflakes” in Strasbourg, Belfort and Chaumont.
A still modest rise in temperatures in the north
On X (formerly Twitter), Guillaume Séchet also explains that the area of France where it could snow is still difficult to define. The snow episode “oscillates over several hundred kilometers between the Loire and the far North”, in his words. As for the temperatures forecast for next week, they should continue to rise in the south, getting closer to seasonal norms, while in the north the rise would be much more timid, according to Météo-France.
