In Osh, on March 8, a poster reading “Stop the Violence!” was hung on an old bridge in the city center. A poster with a slogan against violence against women was hung up by local activists Madina Salaidinova and Inobat Sultanova.

They staged such an action in order to attract the attention of society, because violence against women has increased in Kyrgyzstan in recent years, and criminals remain unpunished. The activists cited the case of the murder of a woman with two children in Bishkek at the end of February this year as an example.

Every year, peaceful marches of solidarity are held in the large cities of Osh and Bishkek on the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of Women.

The annual march for women’s rights took place in Bishkek on 8 March. The march started from the Palace of Sports to the monument to the Fighters of the Revolution. It was attended by about 500 people.

Participants and participants of the march during the march chanted slogans: “Erkin kyz – Erkin Kyrgyzstan!” (“Free girl – free Kyrgyzstan”), “No to patriarchy!”, “No to violence!”, “Police must be fixed!” and others.
