/ The Zakho and Al-Qasim match scheduled for Thursday, for the sixth round of the Iraq Stars League, was cancelled, due to a power outage in Zakho Stadium.

A member of the Zakho Club administration, Taha Zakhouli, told Agency: “Despite our attempts to bring an electric generator to light the stadium, we did not have enough time for the referee of the match, Youssef Saeed, to whistle, announcing the postponement of the match, after agreeing with the match supervisor,” adding: “We are waiting for the federation’s decision.” Regarding holding the match on a new date, especially since what happened was outside the control of Zakho Club.”

Earlier, Zakhouli said that the reason for the delay in the match between Zakho and his guest Al-Qassim, scheduled for seven o’clock this evening, was due to poor electricity in the stadium, pointing out that the club’s management had addressed private parties to bring an electric generator that would provide sufficient power to light the stadium’s annexes.

The match supervisor, in agreement with the referee, gave the Zakho club management half an hour to repair the stadium lighting before the start of the match.
