The Chess Olympiad will begin tomorrow at Pooncheri Village in Mamallapuram, Chennai. More than 2 thousand players from 187 countries are participating in this.

Accordingly, India will field 3 teams in the Open category and 3 teams in the Women’s category. A total of 30 players are fielding in 6 teams. In the women’s category, the India 1 team consists of Koneru Hampi, Harika, Vaishali, Thania Sachdev and Bakti Kulkarni.

In it, Harika Duronavalli (31 years old) from Andhra Pradesh, who is three months pregnant, is competing in the Chess Olympiad. Hariga is ranked 11th in the world. Harika is currently 8 months pregnant. He won the National Chess Champion title at the age of 9. At the age of 10, Harika again won a medal in the national level chess tournament.

In 2008, the central government honored Hariga with the Arjuna Award, a chess world champion. Harika set a record by winning the bronze medal in the Women’s World Chess Championship for 3 years – 2012, 2015 and 2017. He has got the title of Grand Master in the chess tournament held in 2011. In 2019, Harika was awarded the Padma Shri in recognition of her achievements.

In this case, Harika is preparing mentally and physically in order to win gold in the Mamallapuram Chess Olympiad. Special arrangements have been made for Harika at the Mamallapura Chess Olympiad as she is one month pregnant.
