A project called youth | Artemis Diary

by time news

As the Leader of the Cuban Revolution did years ago in the emerging training of professionals, young people from the Artemisa province rejoin student life after the implementation of the basic nursing course for graduates of ninth and twelfth grade.

More than thirty of this generation of white coats, exchanged with Gladys Martínez Verdecia, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and his first secretary in Artemisa. Said purpose, as she reported, is part of the work system established to learn about dynamics and opinions in different sectors of Cuban society.

Martínez Verdecia was interested in the students who were disconnected from work, congratulated them for joining this new modality that will facilitate -shortly- a life project, and stressed that the young people of the basic course enjoy equal conditions to the rest of their companions.

The future nurses appreciated the possibility of expressing their concerns, summarized in the completion of the study material base, access to the purchase of the school uniform, the infrastructure within the teaching area, the absence of simulators for practical classes and the collection of the stipend. This last matter -according to reports- will have a solution with the delivery of magnetic cards, after a conciliation between the management of the Banco de Crédito y Comercio and the Faculty of Medical Sciences.

In eight weeks of the course, the positive experiences are also notable: visits to the family doctor’s and nurse’s offices, practices and presence in procedures of the different specialties, and the dedication of the professors that make up the teaching staff.

«The interest of these young people in learning and facing the conflicts of life with a different perspective is evident. They have a great opportunity on their hands and they will undoubtedly thank them in no time”, concluded Gladys.

Also participating in the meeting were Dr. Yamina Duarte Duarte, Deputy Governor of Artemisa; Yanelis Amador Borrego, provincial director of Public Health, and Joaquín Ernesto Laureiro, dean of the territory’s Faculty of Medical Sciences.
