The traffic of cars and trucks in the area of the “Danube Bridge” border checkpoint near Ruse is intense.

The queue of trucks waiting to pass the facility in the direction of Romania at lunchtime was about one kilometer – from the roundabout at the “Danube Bridge” to the one in the area of the Ruse Free Zone, BTA reports. There are also several parking lots at the beginning of the boulevard “Bulgaria” and the main part are waiting mainly in the buffer parking area.

“I waited in line at the border crossing for three and a half hours, and before that I spent 13 hours in the parking lot. Last week, I stood here for more than a day, and at our border with Romania, sometimes you wait for two or three days,” Moldovan truck driver Alexander Choban, who is returning to his country after loading in Bulgaria, told BTA.

The border crossing informed that a total of 2,342 trucks passed through the facility in both directions over the last 24 hours. Of these, 1,308 left Bulgaria, and 1,034 entered the country.

Car traffic in the direction of Romania is also intense. Drivers are waiting between five and ten minutes to cross the Danube bridge near Ruse today at noon. The border post commented that it is expected that in the afternoon the traffic of cars will increase even more.

On July 10 of this year, the main repair of the Bulgarian section of the 70-year-old facility began. For this reason, in the overpass part of the bridge, traffic for 200 meters is carried out in only one lane. Employees of the “Border Police” regulate the movement of vehicles in the area of construction and installation activities.

Border officials are urging motorists to obey the no-pass on the bridge facility and obey the orders of traffic officials.
