Same place, different scene: for the summer universities of Reconquest!, Sunday, September 10, the meeting of Eric Zemmour was repatriated under the plane trees of Gréoux-les-Bains (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Double advantage: the meadow, of modest size, makes it possible to pass unnoticed the reduction by half of the assistance (3,000 people claimed) and to keep alive the most fragile voters, as a party executive has fun. Now is not the time to lose them: on June 9, 2024, the European election will look like operation survival, for the party as well as for the newly inducted head of the list, Marion Maréchal.
Apart from that, nothing has really changed at Reconquest!. The audience, visibly in good health, reinforces Zemmourist hopes of capturing the right-wing electorate; exchanges between activists, in line with the obsessions of leaders, concern “the rule of law scam”, ” miscegenation “ or the overflowing fertility of “African women” who would compromise “the French project” ; the stands offer the literary classics of the far right, wooden crosses, royalist T-shirts or self-defense courses with an identity militant, candidate for the National Rally in the regional elections of 2021. The executives, above all, display a confidence of brass and repeat in unison that we buried the far-right movement too quickly.

Sunday morning, the staff, minus Eric Zemmour and Marion Maréchal, gathered the press in the hallway of a mansion, between two armors of knights and under the coats of arms of the estate. Not to explain in what order they will distribute the eligible places, nor if Sarah Knafo, the adviser and companion of Eric Zemmour, will come out of her shadow role to run for a first term, but to hold a conquering speech: the Reconquest list! is the most likely, they assure, to bring together the disappointed of the Macronie and the Republicans (LR), as well as the supporters of the National Rally assuming the right.
They want proof of this in the recent remarks of Nicolas Sarkozy, constituting an arc from Emmanuel Macron to Eric Zemmour, seeming to erase his former friends from LR and considering that “the “great replacement” theory is not far-right”. Reconquest! tries to play on two fronts: immigration, to secure its electorate for the presidential election; and a slightly outdated liberal-conservatism, out to conquer the last LR battalions. Thus we hear Guillaume Peltier advocating “freedom to undertake, the reduction of tax and administrative complexity and these standards and taxes which are killing Europe”while Nicolas Bay praises “the fight against LGBT activism” of the party, very worried that the readings given by drag queens in media libraries would pervert French youth.
