The regional training symposium began under the title: (The role of the media in promoting the enjoyment of the right to adequate food: in the light of armed conflicts and environmental and climate change), organized by the Al Jazeera Center for Public Liberties and Human Rights. in collaboration with the National Committee for Human Rights in the State of Qatar and the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions. The aim of the symposium is to increase journalists’ knowledge of the right to adequate food, especially economic, social and cultural rights, and to develop their skills to integrate them with press coverage, as well as to consolidate recognition for the right to food as a basic human being. right
The symposium also aims to explain the concept of the right to food, the principles, standards, indicators and general considerations that explain its operation and protection, and to contribute to raising public awareness of the nature of obligations that countries must implement. right to adequate food at the national level.
The aim of the symposium is to improve cooperation between humanitarian organizations and media institutions in the dissemination and protection of the culture of human rights, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which highlights the negative effects of conflicts, armed conflicts, and environmental and climate change have left the enjoyment of the right to adequate food.
The organizers’ speeches mentioned the role played by the media and its role in changing human rights through essential standards, especially the right to freedom of access to information.
This workshop aims to build media capacity, encourage understanding, tolerance, peace, and provide warnings before food crises occur, and educate to follow modern agricultural methods.
The words of the organizers showed the clear violations and violations of the UN conventions by the Zionist entity in Gaza in terms of the siege it imposes and the restrictions it imposes to prevent access to food, as well as the violation of the rights standards of the man and the massive death he inflicts on innocent people, as well as a constant focus on human rights.
The workshop emphasized the need for those involved in violations to avoid impunity, and pursue them to achieve justice and truth.
