The rescue ship ‘Humanity 1’, from the NGO SOS Humanityhas announced this Saturday that it has rescued almost 200 migrants during its latest series of operations in the Mediterranean. The ship has been found since last Thursday and throughout this past night with four boats with migrants, all in danger.
Several of those rescued are “extremely weak or wounded“. Two people have had to be evacuated due to the seriousness of their state of health.
The rescue operations have been coordinated with the help of the Italian authorities. The ship, already with 197 migrants on board, has set course for the puerto italian of Ortonain central Italy, more than 1,000 kilometers from its area of operations.

However, the ship has not yet been able to enter the port. At this time, the immigration system is going through a logistical remodeling due to the overpopulation crisis suffered by the reception center of Lampedusa.
