A road map for solving the problems of Vitosha was promised by Mayor Vasil Terziev at a discussion on the future of the mountain, which was organized by the Sports Ministry. It was attended by the ministers Julian Popov, Andrey Tsekov, Zaritsa Dinkova and Hristo Hinkov, as well as the regional governor of Sofia Vyara Todeva.
“Vitosha is a special asset that is also related to the health of the people of Sofia, and because of that it is one of the priorities of my mandate,” explained Vasil Terziev.
The Minister of the Environment and Water, Julian Popov, promised that by the end of March, the plan for the management of the natural park, which has been in his department since 2014, will be found and recommendations will be made, which will be released for public discussion.
This was a total of 26 meetings in recent years, organized by various institutions, but nothing came of the previous 25. More than 50 people from various public organizations related to the mountain, as well as representatives of the owner of the facilities of “Vitosha Ski”, gathered in the sports hall.
Vasil Terziev noted that it is easiest to change the elevators, which, however, currently do not do any work, because they start from nowhere and lead to nowhere. They don’t have any misleading infrastructure as well as car parks.
