The start of the school year is an event at the European Parliament. Screams and screams, opposition to the bailiffs, muzzles on the mouth … Far-right Romanian MEP Diana Iovanovici Sosoaca was locked out this Thursday from the European Parliament in Strasbourg after a virulent anti-abortion reaction.

The event took place during a speech by the head of the Marconist list in the European elections Valérie Hayer, who asked the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, “to do everything (it) possible to register the right to abortion in Europe.” Charter of Fundamental Rights”. Diana Iovanovici Sosoaca then cried and cried, stopping this speech.

“You’re killing people”

Elected for the first time last July, this zealous Christian has already attracted attention by proposing to bring a priest to the European Parliament to “bless” and “sanctify”. And before stopping Valérie Hayer, a member of the far right SOS Romania, sitting among the non-registered, has shown a muzzle, placed in front of her mouth.

Videos show Diana Iovanovici Sosoaca in the European Parliament this Thursday, showing a religious symbol and shouting “we believe in God”. “I have the right to speak, the Romanians elected me” he then shouted, putting his muzzle back in his mouth. Then he launches into the hemicycle “shame on you” or “you’re a criminal, you kill people”.

The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, re-elected to her position this Thursday, then responded: “This is the third time you have done this, I ask you to follow the MP towards the exit of the room”. Diana Iovanovici Sosoaca however continued, even if it meant a storm when the bailiffs tried to push him towards the exit. “I also ask you not to shout at the bailiffs,” replied Roberta Metsola.

He is a “hero to defend the right to abortion”

This is “proof, if any is needed, that it is fundamental and urgent to protect the right to abortion throughout Europe” added Valérie Hayer after the event, before continuing her speech of support for European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

But MEP Diana Iovanovici Sosoaca is not only known for her opposition to abortion. He has already spoken on social networks against anti-Covid measures and vaccination against the virus. And, while he was a senator in his country, he also presented a bill calling on Romania to annex some Ukrainian territories. In 2022, he also called for Romania to leave the European Union.
