At least seven people were killed in an attack perpetrated by Russian forces on Monday against a humanitarian aid delivery point in the Ukrainian city of Orijiv, located in the province of Zaporizhzhya (south-east), as reported by the Ukrainian authorities.

“The search operations have been completed. On July 10, rescue teams have recovered the bodies of three people without signs of life under the rubble. The number of dead has increased to seven people”, the Emergency Services of Ukraine published this Monday on their Telegram account.

Previously, the governor of Zaporizhzhya, Yuri Malaishko, reported on his Telegram account about the death of four people (three women and one man) in this attack. Malaishko added that “the enemy has launched 36 attacks against 10 peaceful localities in the Zaporizhia region», before detailing that a 65-year-old man was injured in Novodanilivka. “The enemy will answer for all crimes”, he concluded.

For her part, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator for Ukraine, Denise Brown, condemned the attack and confirmed that “a water distribution point installed and maintained by a partner of the Humanitarian Fund of UN for Ukraine was also destroyed in the attack.

“After 500 days of a large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, civilians continue to die and be injured,” he said, before emphasizing that “the population of Orijiv has lived under constant bombardment for many years months”, according to a statement published by his office. “As I have said many times and as I will continue to say, humanitarian law is clear: civilians, civilian infrastructure and humanitarian assets must be protected. There must be investigations into these violations,” said Brown. “The people of Ukraine need our support more than ever. We will continue to help those who are most in need”, he concluded.
