Mikhail Popkov admitted to killing 83 people, but it is estimated that the number of his victims is approaching 200. Now he wants to be released from prison to fight in Ukraine and has even approached President Putin about it

Russia’s bloodiest serial killer wants to be released so he can fight with the Russian army in Ukraine. Former police officer Mikhail Popkov, 58, was nicknamed the “wolf man” after he killed 83 women between 1992 and 2012. In fact, his number of victims is estimated to be around 200, although he has only admitted to the smaller number.

The killer would offer the victims a ride in his police car and then brutally murder them. He used a variety of tools, including knives, axes and screwdrivers. Now he wants to help his country in its war in Ukraine. Curiously, Russian authorities allowed state television to interview him from behind bars last week as he pleaded to join Putin’s fighters, Russian media reported.

He claimed to have experience from his time in the Red Army, and said he hoped to use the Kremlin’s infamous prisoner program that has so far freed 40,000 prisoners sent to fight at the front to win freedom after six months of fighting, though only most were killed.

He was asked by Russian state television: “What is your dream?” He answered: “Join the army. I would not hesitate to do so.” The Kremlin has not yet responded to his request.
