A senior official in the government of the President of Russia died from a “fall” from the balcony of her home. The official headed a department in the Kremlin that was charged with raising funds for the Ministry of Defense, especially in relation to the war in Ukraine. She was responsible for raising money for Putin’s forces in Ukraine
One of the top people of Russian President Vladimir Putin was found dead after allegedly falling from a window in an apartment tower block, under suspicious circumstances. Marina Yankina, 58 years old, was discovered by a passerby at the entrance of her house in St. Petersburg, it is suspected that she “fell” from a height of 50 meters to her death.
Yankina, headed a department in the Kremlin charged with raising funds for the Ministry of Defense, especially in relation to the war in Ukraine. Yankina also worked at the Federal Tax Service before becoming deputy chairman of the St. Petersburg Property Commission. Her unexpected death is the latest in a long line of people close to Putin who have mysteriously fallen to their deaths.
The Russian media initially announced that her death was being investigated as a suicide, but the suicide report is very common and is often used by the Russian government when the cause of death is unknown. The woman is believed to have been responsible for raising new sources of income for Putin’s forces in Ukraine, many of which are ill-equipped to fight.
Initial reports from the scene of her death suggested that the building was not her residence, while personal items were found on the 16th floor of the building from which she most likely fell. Yankina’s role brought her into contact with senior officials in the Leningrad region, where she was one of the most powerful women.
Suspicious deaths in Russia are nothing new, as dozens of Russian businessmen and oligarchs close to the Kremlin have died under mysterious circumstances in recent months, some slipped from a yacht, some fell from windows, some were killed by a car bomb, some were run over, some were found shot dead, some died of a mysterious disease.
