The night was restless in Loire-Atlantique, where storm Ciaran caused a lot of damage, more material than human. However, a man riding a motorcycle was seriously injured in the town of Gorges and transported to the hospital after hitting a tree that had fallen on the track. In the west of the department, around fifteen people from Savenay had to be evacuated overnight due to trees threatening to collapse on their homes.
In total, firefighters carried out some 130 interventions in connection with the storm, particularly on the coastal strip. It must be said that winds of 140 km/h were recorded on the coast, and even 106 km/h in Nantes. In the mainland, in Bouaye, damage was noted on the roof of the municipal hall. Some 33,000 homes in Loire-Atlantique were deprived of electricity.
Three roads closed
Emergency services and services were mainly mobilized for the numerous flooding of premises but also falling trees which were reported, causing for example the closure of three departmental roads again this Thursday morning, in the north. A fallen trunk also caused chaos on the A11 motorway.
