The central unit of the Israel Police in the Central District and the Shin Bet arrested for questioning as part of a serious security incident, 6 residents of Taiba on suspicion of involvement in May 2021 terrorist activity on a nationalistic background during the “Guardian of the Walls” operation and this morning in accordance with its findings, a prosecutor’s statement was submitted against them in the High Court
Today (Thursday) it was allowed to be published that the Shin Bet investigators and the Governor of the Central District conducted a complex investigation focusing on serious security offenses allegedly committed by a number of Taiba residents during the “Guardian of the Walls” operation, including throwing stones and Molotov cocktails, shooting in the air at the security forces as well as Illegal trade and possession of illegal currency.
During the joint investigation, several residents of the city of Taiba in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of involvement and in accordance with the findings of the investigation and the evidentiary infrastructure, a prosecutor’s statement was submitted this morning against the suspects: Ahsan Azam, Ahmed Neshaf, Muhammad Azam, Yazen Haj Yahya, Ala Haj and Ala Gabali.
With the development of the investigation, much information was received about their involvement in the riots in the city of Taiba during the “Guardian of the Walls” operation, including their involvement in incidents of firing firearms, throwing stones and Molotov cocktails. In addition, their involvement in weapons offenses on a large scale, including the purchase and possession of weapons, as well as trafficking fighting.
As mentioned, these days the investigation of the affair has ended and this morning the Central District Attorney’s Office (criminal) submitted a prosecutor’s statement to the District Court in Lod against the suspects.
The General Security Service and the Israel Police stated that they view the involvement of Israeli citizens in terrorist activity and the use of illegal weapons very seriously. The Shin Bet and the Israel Police emphasize that, despite the fact that one year and four months have passed since the events of “Shomer Chomat”, enforcement continues all the time against all those involved, until the full severity of the law has been meted out to them.”
