A set of instructions to field administration and law enforcement on Durga Puja

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a set of instructions for the field administration and law enforcement forces to keep the situation normal during the upcoming Durga Puja.

On Wednesday (October 2), the senior assistant secretary of the political-2 branch of the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. These instructions were issued through an office memorandum signed by Zahirul Haque.

According to the memorandum, these instructions have been issued for the field administration and law enforcement forces according to the decision of the second meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Council Committee held on October 1 under the chairmanship of the Home Affairs Adviser. The instructions are as follows:

(a) Visible patrols and increased intelligence surveillance by Police, RAB and Ansar and VDP to control the law and order situation on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja celebrations. Members of the armed forces deployed in the field to maintain law and order will also provide necessary assistance.

(b) Preparations should be made to prevent any untoward incident. As soon as an unexpected incident occurs, effective action should be taken by all concerned.

(c) On the occasion of autumn Durga Puja celebrations, all concerned including local administration and law and order forces should visit the pujamandaps.

(d) Care should be taken regarding any such statements or rumors on social media that are offensive or hurt religious sentiments.

(e) The respective puja celebration committees shall appoint required number of volunteers and watchmen (minimum 3 during the day and 4 during the night) for round-the-clock guarding of the puja mandapams.

(f) Arrangements should be made to install CCTV cameras at all times in every worship hall.

(g) To ensure the deployment of sufficient number of police force members, BGB, Ansar and VDP, RAB and other forces on the occasion of autumn Durga Puja celebrations.

(h) On the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja, a monitoring committee should be formed including the dignitaries and students from different levels of society for the security of the pujamandap along with the Hindus. District administrators at the district level and upazila executive officers at the upazila level will form such committees.
