A sharp jump in the number of passengers at Dubai Airport

The number of passengers at Dubai International Airport increased during the first half of the year by 161.9% on an annual basis, despite the decrease in its handling capacity due to renovation works that lasted for 45 days (from May 9 to June 22). According to a statement from Dubai Airports Company, the company that operates the airport, released on Wednesday, the airport achieved 67.5% of the number of passengers during the same period in 2019 before the corona crisis.

The airport handled 27.9 million passengers during the first six months of 2022, with the number of flights increasing by 55.9% to around 155,000, while cargo activity fell by 18.9%.

During the second quarter of the year, the number of passengers at the airport increased by 190.6% on an annual basis, reaching 14.2 million passengers. In doing so, it continued to recover on a quarterly basis for the ninth time since the beginning of the Corona epidemic, according to the statement.

The company expects that the average number of passengers will register 5.6 million passengers per month during the second half of the year, with the number of passengers reaching 62.4 million passengers by the end of the year.
