First publication: Following an incident in which Arab students on the Jerusalem campus simulated the stabbing of a Jewish student and published it on social media, the management of the Ono Academic College decided this week to issue a special letter to students in which they will condemn the incident.
In the letter, which was signed by the dean of the campus, Prof. Yuval Albashan, it will be written, among other things, that “our academic house is experiencing an upheaval” following the serious incident.
In addition, it will be written to the students that “Ono Academic Kirya was founded on the basis of the aspiration to be a free educational Kirya where Jews, Muslims, Druze and Christians will learn without fear of each other. As such, we expect you in these difficult days to show patience with each other and be careful about any statement or action that may be interpreted as threatening the other”.
In the academic library, Ono will make it clear to the students that they will fight any attempt to harm the institution’s vision: “Any case of physical or verbal violence will be dealt with in the most severe and decisive manner.”
As mentioned, during last week Arab students studying at the Jerusalem campus of the Ono Academic Council simulated the stabbing of a Jewish student during the opening event of the year of the Student Union.
The police were called to the scene, and during Friday, when one of the Arab students arrived at school, he was arrested by the police. We are now announcing for the first time that the management of the academic library has decided not to remain silent following the incident and to issue an unusual reference letter to the students.
