The filming of the series Mrs. Davis has lived this Thursday its strong day in the regions of Girona, with the recording of sequences that have had the participation of about 400 extras around the Cathedral of Girona. After filming in Figueres and Lloret de Mar, the team of the new production from the creator of Lost i Watchmen, Damon Lindelofand the co-writer of The Big Bang Theory, Tara Hernandezhave occupied throughout the day the Square of the Apostles and that of Saint Dominic to record scenes that simulated the shooting of a movie. It would be a French production in the 80s that is filming scenes set in the France of 1300, including the cremation of six Knights Templar in a large pyre installed in front of the temple.
It should be noted that Mrs. Davis is a science fiction series that, according to its creators, will explore the conflict between faith and technology in “an epic battle of biblical proportions”, so it is not surprising that the contrasts between eras seen today in Girona, with characters dressed in medieval times with others in clothes from the 80s and the presence of motor vehicles and devices of all kinds, such as cameras and headphones, among horses and heraldic shields.
And it is that the series, starring the actors Betty Gilpin i Jake McDorman and with the participation of other performers known as David Arquette i Tom Wlaschihais leaving prints with a great diversity of eras as it passes through the Girona counties, because in the castle of Sant Ferran de Figueres has also recorded a kind of competition with extras dressed in current clothes and others characterized as if they were from the Middle Ages.
In Plaça dels Apóstols, right in front of the cathedral door, a large medieval pyre has been installed, while in the background of the scene you can see the stalls of a medieval market and, in touch the Palau Episcopall’actual Museum of Arta tribune with red velvets decorated with heraldic motifs such as coats of arms with a fleur-de-lys.
In the early afternoon, one of the actresses could already be seen transported in a golf cart going up the Cathedral’s ramp, while extras in long tunics waited on the steps of the Pera. To Plaza dels Lledonersthere were other extras in eighties clothes and period vans.
Filming, however, had already started in the morning in Plaça de Sant Domènec. In the early hours, the surroundings of the building of The Eagles the atmosphere that will be seen in the series was already shining: the plaques with the name of the climb and the Plaça de Sant Domènec have been replaced by posters in French and everything was full of vehicles and members of the production team leaving it well done
Towards mid-morning, the series has been recording what everything points to be the scene of the filming of a French production, because it has been possible to see caravans with logos such as Papio Cinemacameras, hangers full of clothes, the typical director’s chair – of “realisateur” -, alleged members of a recording crew and even signs that read “please, be quiet, we’re filming!”.
The gossipers – many, students of the University of Girona– who have been watching for a while were able to see how the actress herself got off in a golf cart and entered one of the caravans, while two extras dressed as security officers and a third who pretended to be pregnant also got into the act . All together, with forty extras characterized by tunics, capes and skins as if they came from centuries ago also being part of the scene.
