A shooting in the Bronx leaves a teenager dead and two injured

A 16-year-old girl was dead by a shot to the chest and two of his companions were wounded by the crossfire between two individuals on a street in the New York neighborhood of the Bronx, the Police reported today. The event took place at the edge of 2 in the afternoon, at 156th Street in the Bronx, and the Police assume that the three teenagers were leaving school at that time when they were caught in the crossfire. One of the girls was shot in the chest, and although she was taken to hospital, she died shortly after; Her two companions were injured in non-vital areas.

The suspects in the shooting have fled and police have asked for public assistance to help stop them.

Although the purchase and carrying of weapons are prohibited in the state of New York with few exceptions, the entry of contraband small arms is abundant, and the new mayor of the city, Eric Adams, with a past as a former police officer, has promised make the fight against insecurity one of the priorities of his mandate.
